Performance : Kateryna Aliinyk - L'incapacité à partager le chagrin n'est pas aussi grave que l'incapacité à partager la beauté
Une nouvelle performance de l'artiste et écrivain Kateryna Aliinyk, en coopération avec les artistes pragois Polina Revunenko et Olesya Sydorenko.
L'événement fait partie du programme de la deuxième journée du week-end d'ouverture de la biennale. Le programme au Trade Fair Palace se poursuit avec d'autres représentations jusqu'à 21 heures.
Kateryna Aliinyk écrit des textes sur les expériences de sa famille et les siennes dans les régions de Luhansk et de Donetsk en Ukraine, qui sont sous occupation russe depuis 2014. Elle réfléchit à la guerre et à l'occupation à travers le prisme de la nature et des pratiques agricoles, entremêlant les perspectives humaines et non humaines. Dans ses textes, elle raconte des paysages qu'elle ne peut plus visiter ou toucher, résistant à la violence de la guerre par le désir de partager la beauté.
Les textes d'Aliinyk sont personnels et poétiques, mais aussi profondément politiques, d'une manière située et ancrée. À la Biennale Matter of Art 2024, Aliinyk présente ses peintures et a également été invitée à créer une nouvelle performance. Elle présentera une lecture collective à trois voix dans l'espace d'exposition du Grand Hall du Trade Fair Palace, en collaboration avec deux co-performers ukrainiens basés à Prague et en dialogue avec ses peintures exposées.

Performance: Kateryna Aliinyk – The inability to share grief is not as bad as the inability to share beauty
A new performance by artist and writer Kateryna Aliinyk, in cooperation with the Prague-based performers Polina Revunenko and Olesya Sydorenko.
The event is part of the full-day program of the second day of the biennale’s opening weekend. The program at the Trade Fair Palace continues with further performances until 9 p.m.
Kateryna Aliinyk writes texts about her family’s and her own experiences in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine, which have been under Russian occupation since 2014. She reflects on war and occupation through the lens of nature and agricultural practices, intertwining human and non-human perspectives. In her texts, she narrates landscapes she can no longer visit or touch, resisting the violence of war through the desire to share beauty.
Aliinyk’s texts are personal and poetic but also deeply political in a situated and grounded way. At the Biennale Matter of Art 2024, Aliinyk is presenting her paintings, and she was also invited to create a new performance. She will present a collective reading for three voices in the exhibition space in the Grand Hall of the Trade Fair Palace, in collaboration with two Prague-based co-performers from Ukraine and in dialogue with her exhibited paintings.

In 2016 Kateryna Aliinyk moved to Kyiv, where she entered the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, receiving a master’s degree in painting in 2021. In 2020 she completed a contemporary art course at KAMA (Kyiv Academy of Media Art) and the program Positions of the Artist offered by Method Fund. Her main media are painting and text, and she works mostly with the topic of the landscape touched by the war and occupation in Donbas. She works through images of nature and non-anthropocentric optics.
